Australia's biggest breast cancer research event, Women in Super Mother's Day Classic is now open for registration.
This event serves to fund research and honour those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. More than a quarter of a million Australians have participated in this event. Last year the event raised a total of $14.8 million, making Mother's Day Classic Australia's largest funder of National Breast Cancer's Foundation research programs.
Since the initiation of the event in 1988, survival rates for women diagnosed with breast cancer have increased to 85%.
The 16th annual event is to be held on Sunday 12 May 2013. Open to all ages and fitness levels, the goal of the community is clear: The more funds raised, the faster a cure can be found.
Mother's Day Classic National Chair, Louise Davidson said there was a wonderful community feel to the events, allowing people to show support for those who have been touched by the disease and to support vital research.
“By setting up an online fundraising page and asking friends, family and colleagues to sponsor your walk or run, you will help make a bigger investment of funds for future generations of women with breast cancer.” Ms Davidson said.
Just registering for the event alone helps fund new research into prevention, detection, treatment and cure.
