Did somebody say. . . Shutting shop?
Australian-born food delivery platform Menulog will cease operations as of the end of November, after nearly two decades of service.
Customers found out the news through an email, and closure is set to affect around 120 jobs, according to 7News.
“As the only Australian-born platform, Menulog has a proud history, but ultimately, as a business, we have been navigating challenging circumstances and the decision was made to close local operations,” the email said.
Any outstanding orders or vouchers for the next two weeks will be honoured.
The future of Menulog’s New Zealand operation remains uncertain.
Many will know Menulog not just for its food delivery, but also its catchy ‘did somebody say Menulog’ jingle, which was created in 2019 for Just Eat (a Holland-based company which acquired Menulog in 2015).
The jingle has been a big part of Menulog’s success, featuring celebrities like Christina Aguilera, Snoop Dogg, Katy Perry, and most recently Australia’s own Bliss N Eso.
Menulog is due to cease operations from 26 November.
