A 25-year-old man has been stabbed to death in Port Macquarie after he “looked at someone the wrong way” near a busking performance.

The Courier Mail has reported Charlie Farmer was walking with a friend on Horton St about 1.40am when two men watching popular Port Macquarie busking act Mojo Bluesmen began shouting profanities at the pair.

One of the them said words to the effect of ‘what’s your f...ing problem? What are you looking at?,” said bass player and witness Tim Everett. “They followed them and a scuffle broke out, then one of them dropped to the ground. I went over to him and he was bleeding heavily.”

Police said the two offenders were Caucasian males, in their early to mid-20s and casually dressed at the time of the attack. The victim, a local Port Macquarie man, was stabbed repeatedly during the altercation and left on the footpath. Paramedics arrived to find the victim in a critical condition with stab wounds to his chest and abdomen. They rushed him to Port Macquarie Base hospital but he died a short time later.
