Kiss A Ginger Day

Redheads
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Marc Crouch reckons today is (semi-)officially International Kiss A Ginger Day, which means every ginger person you come across today you must grab and plant a loving kiss onto immediately.

Crouch's blog 'Hot For Ginger' states "Kiss A Ginger Day was started in 2009 by Derek Forgie as a Facebook group intended as a “karmic counter-event” to the November 2008 creation of a Kick A Ginger campaign, also on Facebook. Derek decided to dedicate January 12th to a much more peace-loving activity aimed towards gingers.

"Now in its 4th year, we obviously firmly support Kiss A Ginger Day and encourage anybody reading this to go forth and spread some ginger love. For more information about Kiss A Ginger Day, visit the original Facebook page."

Redheads seem to be doing OK in terms of date-claimers: there's a Dutch 'Redhead Day', a two-day festival on the first weekend of September, which last year broke its own record for 'the most people with red hair gathered in one place': more than 5,000 people from 80 countries.

But that's OK, after watching this video, redheads can have as many days as they want.
