Earlier this year, bewildered American actor Adam Scott experienced the brunt of Australia's social media ineptitude when thousands of us rushed to congratulate him on Twitter for being the first Aussie to win The Masters. Now it's The Offspring's turn.
Last night, popular Aussie medical drama/ soap/ comedy/ we're-not-really-sure killed off one of its most popular characters, Patrick (Matthew Le Nevez), and viewers rushed to social media to express their shock and sorrow. Unfortunately, many of them chose to direct it at the @Offspring Twitter account, thinking it belonged to the show, and not the Californian pop punk band.
Imagine if there were a band called 'The Red Wedding', and you've got an idea of what we're dealing with here.
Not ones to sit back and take this sort of thing lightly, the band decided it would be fun to start responding to these outpourings of grief, and what followed was amazing.
@moviefannetwork Who's slutty sister are you referring to? -Niz
