If you've got serious Adelaide Roller Derby FOMO, fear not.

The 2023 ADRD Grand Final double header bout is quickly approaching (5 August) and will feature the unstoppable Mile Die Club and the indomitable Good Ship Salty going head to head with the winner collecting the Grand Final trophy.

The mighty Road Train Rollers take on the fierce Wild Hearses will also square-off for the Battle For 3rd match.

"Get ready to rev up your engines and buckle up for the most awaited night of the year – the GRAND FINAL of the adrenaline-pumping Adelaide Roller Derby 2023 season – and the final home season games of ADRD at the Adelaide Showground ever!

"The atmosphere will be electrifying with local hepcats Lucky Seven delivering toe-tapping live music from 4pm. Get ready to groove to their beats during halftime too.

"Hosting the night with their razor-sharp wit, our beloved Lil' Commie Bastards will be the masters of ceremonies, ensuring every moment is packed with fun and laughter."

If you're interested in joining the action in 2024 (as a skater, referee or non-skating official), a new member info night takes place in August (scroll down for the details).

"We're gearing up for our annual new member intake programme, and we want YOU to be part of our league.

"Whether you're a seasoned skater or have never even touched a pair of roller skates before, fear not! Our info night is the gateway to a thrilling journey into the electrifying sport of roller derby, and it's open to everyone eager to embrace the challenge.

"Picture yourself as a fierce skater, darting through the pack, strategising every move, and basking in the cheers of an exhilarated crowd.

"Or perhaps you prefer to be an official (skating or non-skating), calling the shots from the sidelines, ensuring fair play, and being an integral part of the derby magic. Whatever your passion, ADRD has a spot in our community just for you."

Here we get to know Mile Die Club team member Ghosty.

My role... Blocker for the Mile Die Club.

My first roller derby bout was... I started skating with ADRD in 2017.

When did you settle on your roller derby name... When I skated with another league in 2016.

The last time I saw the inside of a gym was... It's been over a week, I prefer outdoorsy exercise activities.

Social media is... For team loving (you should see our Mile Die snapchat group).

My favourite app at the moment is? Probably Snapchat, for the above mentioned team love, but love a good Instagram reel.

If we were coming over to your place, what would you cook us? I wouldn't subject you to my cooking. . . but we can order pizza?

To date, my most embarrassing moment was the time... I was drunk and threw up in the corner of my teammate's housemate's bedroom while she was asleep, after trying to get into her bed to sleep. . . I bought her a plant as an apology gift!

When it comes to pets are you a lover or hater of our furry friends? Lover, I go to the team dog dates just to hang out with the dogs.

What's the one chore you dislike the most? Laundry. . . I have an endless clothing pile that never seems to disappear.

Do you have any phobias? Submechanophobia – not shipwrecks, but weird machinery in swimming pools gives me unexplainable panic.

Would you ever partake in a reality show? 'Survivor'! I just want to do the challenges.

If you could prank any of your friends, who's your target, and how are you bringing them down? I'm not really into pranks, just lighthearted shenanigans.

Which fictional character best describes your personality? Well, as a kid I really resonated with Dale from the 'Rescue Rangers' TV show because he was fun and loves sweet treats and snacking and so do I!

Last show you binge-watched? 'Heartbreak High' on Netflix.

Adelaide Roller Derby's 2023 Grand Final bout takes place at Adelaide Showground on 5 August with doors from 4pm (first bout at 4.30pm). A new member info night for the 2024 season takes place at The Wheaty (Adelaide) 14 August.
