Inaugural Adelaide Food Fringe Serves Up A State Banquet

The inaugural Adelaide Food Fringe takes place 3-5 April, 2020.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Adelaide Food Fringe is South Australia's newest open-access food festival, with registrations now open for anyone to present a food or drink-themed event as part of their inaugural programme in April 2020.

In the spirit of all great fringe festivals, Adelaide Food Fringe will be 100 per cent open-access – “created by the people, for the people”; and open to anyone with a passion for food and drink that they want to share with the wider community, including food-related events and performances.

Open-access means that anyone can be a part of Adelaide Food Fringe, whether you are a back-shed brewer, home cook, migrant community, custodian of treasured family recipes, sporting club, chef, restaurant, cafe, bar, winery, brewery, distillery, farmer, food scientist, producer, community veggie garden or industry professional.

Pretty much anyone with a pulse can join the programme by registering their event or idea at their venue.

Adelaide Food Fringe 2019

“Like the Adelaide Fringe, SALA, Umbrella and all of South Australia’s great 100 per cent open-access festivals, Adelaide Food Fringe is all about creating a platform for people to share their food and drink ideas, and bring their venues and businesses to life in a vibrant festival programme that celebrates them all," festival Director Vic Pisani says.

“This isn’t a festival with one event, fenced off with a bunch of food and drink vendors. Adelaide Food Fringe can and will be everywhere in SA. It’s your bar, restaurant, farm, winery, festival, club, school, home – literally anywhere you choose to present your event."

The festival will take over all of South Australia, with a key objective being to increase regional participation and make the state's amazing food and drink culture more accessible. Adelaide Food Fringe will be an inclusive and family-friendly festival celebrating the diverse and vibrant food cultures to which all Australians feel a connection.

Registrations are open now until 5 February, 2020. Adelaide Food Fringe is on 3-5 April, 2020.
