The classic custom of ‘taking tea’ returns. No longer restricted to only the upper classes, Queenie’s Teahouse has revitalised High Tea to appeal to all generations; from little angels to Madonnas, and saints and sinners in between. With lessons on etiquette, to tea appreciation classes for a comprehensive education in history and plant treatments, and opening hours extended to Sundays, Queenie’s presents the ideal breakfast, brunch, lunch or afternoon affair.
WHY?
Take pleasure in the grandest of traditions where tea is served and tidbits are gorgeously arranged on tiered plates in a tranquil setting intended to invigorate the palate, pleasure the eye, calm the heartbeat and refresh the brow. Unlike the ADHD consequences of coffee, tea is a personal journey in enjoying the moment, right to the very last drop. Sample teas of every hue, to prettily escort pies, puddings, toasts or a range of High Tea stands. From the Littlie’s Tea Party to The Classic, The exquisite Regal, the gluten-free Majestic or customary Devonshire, all your senses will be overwhelmed.
WHERE?
From her charming spot at 1279 Sandgate Road, Nundah, Queenie’s Teahouse will greet you with a tumbler of French Earl Gray upon arrival, your gaze lingering upon framed tea ancedotes, ledges of teacups, saucers and accessories, and the vast wall of Rosie Lee; their fragrance and textures conveying you around the world, from England to Germany, The Silk Road to Ceylon, China, Brazil and beyond. It will be rare indeed, to leave the premises without a gift for a friend - or oneself.
HOW ?
Be seated at crisp tablecloths and a substantial menu offering a dazzling array of brews with refined accompanying morsels. Feast your eyes upon your selection, stunningly presented upon tiered plates with the perfume of your cha immediately wafting to your nostrils. Treat your brew like any wine connoisseur: inhale the scents, gently sip, roll leisurely across your tongue to gently flow down the throat, and chased by a lemon tart or Queenie’s own cupcake. Repeat the process, though differ the pursuit each time for maximum luxury; perhaps with a frittata, cream and scones, or ribbon sandwiches (the chicken or egg and lettuce will be particularly beloved).
WHO?
Queenie’s owner Simone Driscoll invites you to savour a charming ritual, galvenised and revived as a retreat from the frenzy of the everyday. Accompanied by Karina, Queenie’s onsite tea sommelier, you will be enlightened, rehabilitated and recharged, ready to face the world anew.
