If you or your parents were up bright and early to grab Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 1997, your book might be worth a lot more than what you paid for it.
The first 500 or so copies of the J.K Rowling masterpiece contain a proofreading error.
On page 53 is a list of equipment Harry needs for his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and it appears that he needs two wands:

This is an error that was fixed shortly after being discovered, and can only be found in a very limited amount of copies.
A reader who came forward to sell theirs has been told it might be sold for up to $40,000. Imagine how many wands you could buy with that?!
Matthew Haley from Bonhams Fine Books and Manuscripts auctioning house says it's something that will generate lots of talk amongst Harry Potter fans.
"As the first book in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone has a special place in the affections of the millions of readers across the world and the proofreading error about the wand in the first edition has, of course, become a treasured piece of Harry Potter arcana.
"Like most enduring books aimed at younger readers, the Harry Potter books also have wide appeal to adults and there is a strong market among collectors for first editions.
"This copy is in excellent condition – one of the very best I’ve seen – and we’re expecting a lot of interest."
What are you waiting for?! Dust off that old classic and go on a typo hunt!
