The Gold Coast is looking a little extra fabulous this week as Glitter Festival 2015 struts around town.
The Arts Centre Gold Coast launched this new and inclusive festival just this year, and the inaugural event is proving to be very popular. This lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, a-sexual, pansexual and everyone else festival is running until 5 October and has a little something for everybody.
Celebrating the start of this Glitter filled week, 'Tacos & Tiaras' was THE place to be on Tuesday night (29 September). Held at Stingray Lounge, if you wanted to feel a little fancy, or just enjoy a fun and flirty time, you were in for a treat. Guests were given a tiara on arrival, only to be topped by the delightfully talented and stunning queens at the event, but that didn't seem to stop anyone from feeling just as magical.
A free drink on arrival was enough to get many people through the door, with the private Glitter Festival area filling up fast. However, it was the sense of community that took over the evening. With tacos in hand, there seemed to be every community represented and coming together as one, truly cementing this event with its all inclusive title. Even if you arrived on your own, you weren't left lonely for long as the area was filled with welcoming people ready to include you in their frivolity.
Whether you were there to mingle or simply enjoy the tasty selection of $3 tacos, 'Tacos & Tiaras' was the perfect way to welcome in an inspiring Gold Coast event.
Climaxing over the Labour Day long weekend, there is still plenty left in the Glitter Festival programme to tickle your fancy. From cabaret and theatre through to art gallery displays and films, the Glitter Festival team has worked tirelessly to pull together this week-long celebration of arts and culture.
Glitter Festival takes place on the Gold Coast until 5 October.
