It's been the wrong type of busy in Fortitude Valley overnight. Two police officers have been assaulted and a third man was punched unconscious.

Two police officers were allegedly assaulted at 4:40 this morning when they responded to an altercation involving a group of people in Brunswick Street.

While attempting to break up the disturbance up it will be alleged a man punched a male officer before pushing him to the roadway. A second male officer was punched in the face during an attempted arrest. The two officers, aged 28 and 35, were treated for facial injuries, and one officer for knee injuries, at Saint Andrew's Hospital.

The man was subsequently subdued following the deployment of OC spray and a taser. A 22-year-old Yatala man has been charged with two counts of serious assault police officer causing bodily harm and is expected to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on 12 October.

In a separate incident, a short time later, a man was taken to hospital with head injuries following an incident also in Fortitude Valley.

At 4.45am two men became involved in an altercation on Brunswick Street near Wickham Street. One man struck the other causing the second man to fall to the ground unconscious. The struck man, a 25-year-old from Regents Park, was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with serious injuries.

A 23-year-old Norman Park man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is expected to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
