El Camino Cantina Has Launched Hotel Diablo, Brisbane's Newest Discotheque Offering A Margarita Mecca In South Bank

Hotel Diablo at El Camino Cantina
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Styled on Austin, Texas-inspired Tex-Mex restaurants that hero punchy margaritas and spice-packed dishes, El Camino Cantina's newest addition at South Bank in Brisbane has also launched Hotel Diablo – a dedicated DJ space operating Friday and Saturday evenings.

Launched at the weekend with sets from Mashd N Kutcher and Club MTV's DJ Brooklyn (who will also be the resident DJ the next three weekends), Hotel Diablo offers a cool club vibe with DJs playing late into the night.

December's DJ line-up will also feature special sets from Ruby Phoenix, Tenzin and Tigerlily.

The weekend of 11-12 December will be a beach party theme with the venue to be filled with blow-up pool toys and inflatables, and fake flowers and vines draped throughout.

Then it'll be a not so silent weekend on 17-18 December for Hotel Diablo's Christmas party (everyone will receive a Santa hat on arrival).

Situated in Brisbane's South Bank precinct, El Camino Cantina has three distinct areas set across two storeys.

A colourful, umbrellaed outdoor dining area, a ground floor diner, and the 190-seat Hotel Diablo upstairs, which has a dedicated bar and is split across two interlinked rooms making it ideal for private functions throughout the festive season.

"We are thrilled to be launching our first two-storey El Camino Cantina and Hotel Diablo, where we will spotlight top DJs every week and have the biggest line-up of our cult margaritas in Queensland," El Camino Cantina Food and Beverage Director, Molly Haranis says.

"The venue boasts a number of great zones, spaces and rooms that are ideal for group functions this festive season. With a large alfresco area and upper-level entertainment, it's the perfect party spot this summer."

El Camino Cantina South Bank is celebrating Brisbane’s first Ritapalooza (until 3 January), a celebration of the restaurant's famous rockstar-style ritas.

Fifteen flavours of El Camino Cantina's legendary margaritas are available during Ritapalooza including best-sellers grape nerd, hubbabubba Rita and watermelon. All Ritapalooza margaritas are served as Cadillacs, which includes a smooth, rich, Grand Marnier float. Try any four flavours on one of the bar’s famous tasting paddles (each taste is 220ml).

The South Bank site is the tenth El Camino Cantina in Australia, including those located at Bowen Hills and Westfield Chermside in Brisbane, Robina on the Gold Coast, and Sunshine Plaza on the Sunshine Coast.

El Camino Cantina also have restaurants in The Rocks, Manly, Miranda and the Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park in NSW, and Fitzroy in Melbourne.
