Bleach* Festival is back to illuminate the Gold Coast with a massive programme full of contemporary music, arts, dance, theatre and performance.

Across three weekends, Bleach* will be pushing the creative boundaries with hundreds of Gold Coast artists, as well as renowned Australian and International artists, getting on board to present easily accessible and mostly free events in all corners of the Gold Coast.

Artistic Director of Bleach*, Louise Bezzina, says the 2016 festival aims to challenge perceptions of 'what art is' and 'where it should be performed'. Included in the line-up is a performance by Circa centred around Evandale Lake, Kage dancing on Forklifts and visual displays by Craig Walsh around Gold Coast parks and beach sides.

Ben Lee will also be performing as a feature artist at Bleach* 2016. Louise says that in a huge coup for Bleach* Festival, organisers are thrilled that Ben Lee accepted their invitation to be the Bleach* Festival feature artist. “Bleach* will be will offering budding song-writers the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend a song-writing workshop with the Aria-award winning artist, and Ben will also perform at a free outdoor Bleach* concert on the beach at Burleigh Heads,” says Louise.

Bleach* will feature more than 50 events and hundreds of artists and also has a lot for the kids including: ‘All Aboard’, a delightful, site-specific performance on the Gold Coast light rail system, G:Link, for families about the joy of movement, and how to move on when things change in life.

Events will be held in the centre of the Gold Coast at Surfers Paradise but will also reach out to Currumbin, Coolangatta, Mudgeeraba, Southport, Broadbeach, Robina, Palm Beach, Burleigh Heads and more. “The Gold Coast’s natural environment and some of its best known landscapes will have ‘starring roles’ in many of the 2016 festival’s events. Beaches, parks and waterways become unconventional outdoor stages for performances and expressions of music, contemporary circus, theatre, dance and visual arts,” says Louise.

Bleach* Festival runs 4-20 March.
