Be Suburban At Reclink Community Cup

Reclink Community Cup
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

This annual Reclink Community Cup clash between PBS 106.7 FM / Triple R 102.7 FM Megahertz and the Rockdogs will be fought out at Elsternwick Park, Melbourne.

The catch phrase for the year is 'Be Suburban' and is based on the theme of Australian alternative rock band Beasts of Bourbon. The band will be performing together with other artists such as Justine Clarke, garage pop duo Super Wild Horses and psychedelic garage rockers King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard.

Even though the highlight of the day is the footy match between the community broadcasters and the Melbourne rock fraternity, the day has a lot more to offer.

The cup has been on Melbourne's calendar for the past 20 years and has grown into an event which raised over $70,000 last year and saw 9000 in attendance.

The funds raised by the event go to Reclink Australia, whose mission statement is to encourage people experiencing disadvantage to become actively involved in sport, recreation and arts programs.

Reclink Community Cup will be held Sunday 23 June.
