After hosting 21,000 beer, BBQ and music fans in 2022 – the largest such gathering in the Southern Hemisphere – Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival (ABBF) returns in 2023 with another mouth-watering music line-up.
Set to headline ABBF will be Aussie punk-rockabilly royalty The Living End, alongside garage rockers Dune Rats and OG indie rockers Magic Dirt.Outlaw country rocker Henry Wagons is bringing his band Your Mates to headline the Sunday line-up (he'll also MC the event once more), which will also feature a guest appearance from everyone's favourite furry children's television character – Humphrey B. Bear.
Emerging R&B, hip hop collective 1300, legendary DJ Dexter (he of Avalanches fame), punk rockers The Bennies, and alt-pop singer-songwriter Katy Steele (Little Birdy) are also part of the action.
"Stoked to be playing at Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival supporting The Living End and more! Hope to see you there Dirtbags," shares Magic Dirt.
ABBF have added an extra stage to this year's event, to make that five stages in total, as well as rebranding the main stage Ken West Stage in honour of the late Big Day Out founder.
"Whatup Radelaide! We're finally coming back to party with y'all," beams The Bennies. "This time at Beer & BBQ Fest. So many sick bands, not to mention all the icy cold beers and BBQ goodness!
"See you there. We'll be smoking up more than just meats!"
Fresh off playing WOMADelaide, rising hip hop stars from the APY lands Dem Mob and Sunshine Coast rockers (and founding member of The Chats) Pricey will also get juices flowing.
The local contingent is as strong as ever featuring Loose Units, Juliette Seizure & The Tremor-Dolls, Street Legal, Lily Rose and Stiff Necks (Tony Modra's favourite band).
There'll be a stack of alternative entertainment options as well; from live art shows, fire installations, and secret drinking dens, to live wrestling, BMX and skateboarding, axe throwing, carnival rides and tattooing, not to mention the infamous Beer Bod comp.
"2022 was a huge year for ABBF and we were blown away by the turn out. This year we've dialled it up and will be bigger, badder, fatter and louder again! It's a beast," declares ABBF Director Aaron Sandow.
"Another live stage means we will be able to host more diverse artists and we can't wait to light the fires in July."
Tickets are on sale.
