As they gear up to head east to showcase at SXSW Sydney next week ahead of a national tour next month, their biggest yet, Perth's South Summit have already packed the Tarago with their must-have travel items.
The band recently released their new EP, 'Tales Of The Yeti', which features the singles 'Just Like You', 'I Feel It' and 'Sidelines'.Recorded at Blackbird Sound Studio with Dave Parkin (Spacey Jane, Tired Lion, Bob Evans), 'Tales Of The Yeti' was mastered by Grammy Award-nominated producer Brian Lucey (Liam Gallagher, The Black Keys, Lime Cordiale).
"The way we write and make our music always happens naturally, our latest EP 'Tales of the Yeti' in particular was a special one," South Summit's Josh Trindall says.
"Every song has its own journey and process, whether it starts from a demo or a jam. Once we get the foundations of each song, we just jam our parts for a while until the song feels right and ready to take into the studio."
After a 2022 that saw the band perform slots at Falls Festival, BIGSOUND, NYE On The Hill, Day On The Lawn and Rolling Sets, South Summit will perform two showcases at SXSW Sydney.
Ahead of their road trip, here the band list their five 'must have' items they require when travelling together.
Nintendo Switch
In our downtime we often chuck it on and play some 'Mario Kart'. Because we are travelling so much, this usually makes it easier for us when travelling and in our accommodation; it does get competitive at times.Speaker
This is something we need when on tour; before our show we like to chuck on some music to get us in the groove of things. Having some sort of background noise when getting ready for a show is essential.Portable Charger
This is something we need at all times when travelling. Keeping our phones charged at all times is very important for most of us as we often find ourselves needing to fill out questions or record some videos. This is a 'must have' when travelling.
Sunnies
Having a pair of sunnies on you is always an important accessory to have. Nothing worse than having a few pints at the pub with the sun glaring straight at you. It's one of those things we just like to have on us at all times when travelling across the country and hitting the town.Headphones
When travelling around we love listening to tunes and watching movies. Having your own set of headphones is something we always make sure to bring. There's been some occasions where one of us will forget to bring headphones and from experience it's not a pleasant plane ride.
