Kingswood

Australian country-rockers Kingswood are an ARIA-nominated, four-time Golden Guitar-nominated band who have released five studios albums across their almost two decades.

Their latest single, 'Lovin' A Girl' (which will feature on the group's forthcoming album) finds the group embracing their Americana side – echoing the musical spirits of Neil Young, Gram Parsons, and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

"'Lovin' A Girl' is a pondering of scenarios where, after subsequent heartbreaks, I've always been incredibly apprehensive to delve into developing something again," guitarist Alex Laska says.

"So, I play a game where I imagine relationships or a fantasy that plays out very quickly in my mind of what that relationship would have been like. And then it ends, and none of it takes place."

Adds vocalist Fergus Linacre, recalling the of writing 'Lovin' A Girl'. "We were in Brisbane sitting at the front of our tour bus and were supposed to go out and meet up with a bunch of people.

"We started playing and just got on a roll and became really excited about the song we were writing. Then suddenly it was midnight, and we missed the whole reason we went to Brisbane!"

The band have recently played Gympie Music Muster and Savannah In The Round, with this weekend seeing them play The Bend Classic in South Australia – three days of fast cars, country-rock music and camping.

Kingswood then have a trio of mostly regional gigs each in November and December (including a support slot with The Black Sorrows in Sydney), before they return to Tamworth Country Music Festival to start off 2026.

Here Fergus and Alex share the five must-haves they need when boarding their tour bus, which is affectionately called Peggy.

Whiskey

A decent supply of excellent whiskey is required for all pre- and post-show tipples. Served over a large ice cube in a diamond-cut tumbler, it is the perfect accompaniment to most activities on the bus.

Noise cancelling headphones

Sometimes the hustle and bustle of a full bus can become overwhelming. I prescribe retiring to your bunk, drawing the curtain and escaping into a whole new world. No I literally mean watching 'Aladdin'.

Uno

Well Uno or dice. Both get a good run on the bus. The back lounge is often filled with band and friends for kick-ons (hey good band name, The Kickons; let me check if it's taken. . . yeah they exist). Oh well, where was I?

Golf clubs

I often play by myself to get some me time. Only problem is if I get a hole in one, no one will believe me. Maybe I'd just keep it to myself, like when Gordy sees the deer in 'Stand By Me'.

Mila the dashboard Hula girl

An eternal optimist, Mila is always sending positive energy into the cabin. She loves to dance and smile, and play her ukulele whilst smiling and dancing.
