This weekend Capulet wants you to do your Housework at their Fortitude Valley venue.
What better way to spend your Sunday afternoon (5th October) with the sun shining on your back and quality house music provided by some of Brisbane's best ladies: Kavina Kumar, Anna Sonnenburg, Didi, Kim De La Haye, Jaime Forson, Miss Mich, Monique and Renee Jean.
One of the organisers/ DJs, Kavina Kumar lists five items that make her feel powerful as a woman.
1. The Power Scent
Deep Red by Hugo Boss. I guess the association speaks for itself; it is the scent of a boss woman. I wear this for every important event in my life: exam, social setting or test of confidence. When I put this on, I literally transform into a magnet of attraction for all good things because fate appreciates the smell of confidence – which just so happens to smell like blackcurrant, blood orange and tangerines.2. The Power Pose
I first learned about this from social psychologist Amy Cuddy in a TED lecture. It involves undertaking masculine and confident posing to make yourself look more dominant. It literally changes the chemistry of your body, raising testosterone and lowering cortisol, therefore making you look powerful and composed.3. The Playlist
A few songs on mine include: Mobb Deep’s ‘Shook Ones Pt 2’, M.I.A.’s ‘Bad Girls’ and ‘Flawless’ by Beyonce. When I am prepping for a big gig, this is what I’m listening to before I appear composed and cultured for an audience of underground-progressive and techno-music lovers. Nothing makes a woman feel more powerful than busting a provocative gyrate to her jam – so here’s to all the killers and the hundred dollah billas.4. The Hairdresser
Your hair is your prime accessory and it is the first thing someone will notice about you. I always leave Papas & Pace looking like perfection, and on top of that I am spoiled with multiple cups of hot chocolate – when I want to feel powerful and spoiled, this is my sanctuary and the high from a new haircut keeps me going till my next visit.5. The Statement Coat
It’s the last thing I put on when I leave the house and it signifies to the world that I’m here to do business. When I put on my very expensive black MARCS coat it means I take myself seriously and that I am a grown-ass woman who isn't flimsy like a cardigan.Kavina also supports Hernan Cattaneo at The TBC on Saturday 4th October.
