Ahead of upcoming show at Pacific Sounds, Fatai shares the five historic people she wishes she had met.
1. The biblical King David
I’m one of few artists in the world who doesn't listen to music and so I draw a lot of inspiration from the Psalms. David reminds me a lot of me, so I can relate to his story and his undeniable love for God.2. Nelson Mandela
He has obviously changed history in an unforgettable way, but I’m taken by how one man can experience such personal hardship and pain while carrying the burden of the hardship and pain of a country. I wanna ask where he personally found his hope.3. Mother Teresa
Besides singing, I have a huge heart for mission and serving others, so who better to talk about those things than with the lady who shaped mission in the 21st century!4. Bob Marley
I saw a Facebook vid the other day that went viral and it was Bob Marley answering the interviewers question. He asks: “What's it like to be rich?" Bob answers: "What do you mean rich? I know a different kind of rich. I’m not rich in possessions but I’m rich in love!" I stand for the same thing and would love to continue that conversation with him over drinks by the fire and sing one love all night!5. Michael Jackson
I’d love to meet Michael Jackson the person and not Michael Jackson the superstar. I’m interested to know what it’s like to be given such a gift and such a life with the eyes of the world on you and the status of a world icon.Fatai performs at Pacific Sound with SWISS at Redland Performing Arts Centre 8 August.
