5 Favourite Cult Leaders With Sacred Shines

Sacred Shrines
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

With a debut album in the can and a swag of new songs to road-test, Brisbane psych/ garage cult Sacred Shrines finally tear themselves away from the studio to deliver their first live show for 2016.

With a resume that already includes local supports of The Dandy Warhols and Tumbleweed and tour supports with The Murlocs, Sacred Shrines are building momentum.

Electrical engineering is an honest profession, but there isn’t a guarantee you’ll end up rich or famous. SMM decided that proclaiming himself the Messiah was his ticket to the top and if you can’t promote yourself, then you could be waiting round a while for someone else to do it for you. Genius.

Elbert Eugene Spriggs

He came a long way from being a high school counsellor and a carnie, but the skills he picked up would have come in handy. I’m not exactly sure what the Three Eternal Destinies are, but I reckon I’d settle for just one.

Joseph Smith, Jr

This guy started with an interest in religious-folk magic and a childhood crippling bone infection and turned it into a world-wide church. It all started when he read these golden tablets with magical spectacles given to him by an angel that he met in a field. Drugs.
