5 Beers With Cut Snake

Cut Snake
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Mates since childhood, Cut Snake aka Fish and Sedz grew up on the Gold Coast of Australia; surfing professionally and competing against each other from the time they were 12.

In this time, they developed the hilarious banter and dynamic that's still prevalent in interviews and on stage.

The guys got into dance music while they were touring the world for surf contests and quickly grew passionate about the underground scenes from each country they visited. "It’s about enjoying the moment and having a great time," Fish explains.

With a relocation to the US, Cut Snake are busier than ever introducing Americans to their music and their love of a frosty beer. Here's their top 5 beers.

1. XXXX Gold

How can ya go wrong with a name like 'Gold'? Being a Queenslander this beer is my go-to beer after being overseas for a while. The first sip, to me, is always a moment of pure bliss. This beer is the beer of sunshine. Smooth, light and perfect for drinking in the hot sun that QLD serves up and to top it off, it's also a low-carb beer so you can tell yourself your drinking something healthy while ya guzzling down litres of it.

This beer will always hold a large spot in my heart (but most likely liver)! In fact just writing this is makes want to go to the fridge and grab one!

2. Bintang

I have a love/ hate relationship with this beer. I think it's because most are either, half full of water or half full of methylated spirits. Sometimes you can drink for days on 'em, and sometimes you'll have five and wake up butt-naked on a pink scooter in the heart of an Ubud rice patty. That said, nothing beats ripping into an ice-cold Binny after a nice, long session of good waves in the Bali sun.

But be careful kids; to many of these and that girl that you have under your arm walking out of the Bounty Bar might be packing a bag of fruit under that mini skirt and you won't even know it.

3. Sam Adams Boston Lager

I'm not yet sure if I love this beer purely for its taste or the fact that I got an awesome S.A. mug for free when I bought my first case of 'em. But it now seems to be my go to beer over here in the States.

When I first moved to California I used to drink Coors Light like it was the last liquid on earth, but after a year or so of doing that I realised I may as well just drink water because it's cheaper and pretty much tastes the same.

4. Stella

There is nothing better than coming in from a surf and ripping the top off a nice, cold, awesome, juicy, golden Stella Artois. When that shit hits my lips there is a rave in my mouth full of gold.

5. VB Tallie

Another epic moment is when you have been on the road and ya get back to Australia and ya mate hands ya a cold, refreshing VB Tallie in a brown paper bag. That first sip gives me goosebumps and lets me know I’m home again! You beauty!
