Charlotte Mclean is emerging as one of Australia's most captivating and original young jazz vocalists.
A recent graduate of the Jazz Music Institute (JMI), Charlotte's exemplary skills as an improviser allow her to put a fresh spin on classic jazz repertoire, while her original tunes have garnered critical and popular acclaim.

Ahead of a live performance and workshop at JMI this weekend, Charlotte shares her love of food improvisation with her favourite food combinations.
1. Maccas fries and ice cream
You can’t go wrong with the old Maccas fries and ice cream. This combo is always great after a late gig and the salty-sweet thing is a winner.2. Cheeseburger and ice cream
It sounds super gross but it’s worth trying I promise! Another take on the old Maccas’ fries and ice cream, just dip the cheeseburger in one bit at a time and away you go. Be careful to avoid the pickles.3. Cheese and onion
Just a classic. You can mix it up with some ham.4. Chips and yoghurt
Another weird one... My favourite is sea salt Kettle chips and vanilla yoghurt, because you don’t want chunky strawberry bits with your chips and yogurt. A scooping action is necessary.5. Buenos and English breakfast tea
I recommend stocking up on Buenos when they are on special for $1.The Charlotte Mclean Quartet performs at JMI Live (Brisbane) 1 April. Charlotte will also be delivering a vocal workshop at JMI Live 2 April (1-3pm). She'll return to JMI Live to perform 22 July. Charlotte also performs at Lock N Load (Brisbane) 12 April.
