Police have charged 35 people following a drug detection operation at dance music festival Knockout Circuz, in Sydney yesterday.
A 20-year-old woman was allegedly found with 879 capsules of drugs believed to be MDMA (‘ecstasy’) – almost one for every fifth person at the 5,000 people event. She was charged with 'supply commercial quantity' but perhaps 'supply industrial quantity' would be more appropriate.
A 21-year-old man was allegedly found with 200 capsules MDMA while a 19-year-old man was allegedly found with 103 capsules of drugs also believed to be MDMA.
During the operation police received reports that three people were treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to hospital. One of the three, a girl believed to be aged in her 20s, remains in hospital.
The arrests come a week after drug-related deaths at Stereosonic in Adelaide and Sydney. Earlier in the week, the event's promoter posted this on Facebook encouraging people to play safe:
Its important this weekend to be a legend and look after yourself and those around you. We want to keep our scene healthy and full of amazing times!
