Channel Seven might have overpaid for their interview with Schapelle Corby.
The network has reportedly paid $3 million for an exclusive interview with the ubiquitous drug smuggler, but the Brisbane Times reports that Channel Ten had a much easier time convincing her friends to talk — all it took was a $15 bottle of Wolf Blass.
Channel Ten reporter Jonathon Lea offered the glass of sparkling over the fence at the Loganlea home of Schapelle's mother, Rosleigh Rose, where celebrations were in full swing after the 36-year-old's release from Kerobokan prison.
The offer was accepted by the friends who accompanied Schapelle on her infamous Bali trip, Ally Jeffers and Katrina Richards. The women popped the cork and drank the bottle on the spot.
"It's beautiful, tastes like freedom," Ms Richards said.
Aside from the Wolf Blass review, Lea's quick thinking got him a quote about Schapelle's state of mind.
"It's a new beginning," said Ms Jeffers, who had spoken briefly to Schapelle. "Forget about the past, this is a new slate. Move forward, new beginning."
Sure, it's not much, but do you really expect anything more substantial to emerge from Schapelle's $3 million sit-down?
