Natalie & Sarah, a new local label aimed at the fashion conscious 18-35 y.o. market, will showcase their 2013 spring/summer collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week's New Generation show tomorrow.
Only two designers from NSW were selected for the New Gen show. Natalie Foran and Sarah Lim's label has seemingly come from nowhere. Launching at the Bondi Markets late last year, they've already marketed their designs successfully at Paddington Markets, Kirribilli Markets and Bizarre Bazarr (now called Crosssection); in late January, Sydney's Time Out magazine named the duo the #1 'emerging designer to watch'.
Like most overnight successes, Natalie and Sarah's meteoric rise is based on a foundation of hard work. They both undertook formal design training at Whitehouse Institute of Design; after graduation, they obtained industry experience at Charlie Brown, Wayne Cooper and Jigsaw before creating their own collection.
Both girls grew up in Sydney. Natalie graduated from Baxter College, Sarah from Abbotsleigh; Sarah went on to a degree in textiles at UNSW before joining Natalie at Whitehouse.
To date, their highest profile success came at the Dally M awards, where Kieran Foran's partner Rebecca Pope and Daly Cherry-Evans' partner Vessa Rockliffe both wore Natalie & Sarah dresses.
Their new collection is top secret until its unveiling tomorrow, but they promise the 12 new looks will be more remarkable than their first collection. Since we can't show you them, here's a few photos of the girls instead:
