Born from the heart and soul of Brisbane's entertainment precinct – Fortitude Valley – Revelry Apparel is not a label or clothing line, but a statement of lifestyle.
Created by the people behind The Met and GPO, Revelry Apparel is in expert hands. With a range of ambassadors from local sporting personalities, their debut line for spring/summer is versatile and engrained with entertainment and diverse culture.
One third behind the helm of The Met, GPO and now Revelry Apparel, Angus Cattanach has been in the business his entire life. So there's no better person to talk about his, Trent Meade and Matt Blyth's new baby (Revelry Apparel that is).

How did you get into the entertainment venue industry?
I come from five generations of publicans so it was always a given that I would end up in this industry. After working in some of the higher profile venues in Brisbane I needed a new challenge so in 2007 I moved over to London. I worked for a prominent group of nightclubs over there and remember thinking to myself when I got home I would stop counting other people's money. In 2011 the GPO came up for sale and the rest is history.
How is The Met going since Revelry Entertainment took over the establishment just over a year ago?
We had a very particular business plan with what we planned on doing but the Met has gone far beyond those expectations in this first 12 months. We have a fantastic group of people behind the scenes that are continually putting on events worthy of National and International recognition. I'm really happy with the direction we're heading in and am looking forward to being able to make some major announcements soon that will shake up the industry here in Brisbane.

Have you gotten to meet plenty of famous faces in the industry?
I don’t have a lot of time on a Saturday nights to be socialising but it is an important aspect of the job. We see everyone from international artists on tour like Jason Derulo to DJs such as Borgeous, Gareth Emery and Carl Cox; then you have nights like after Future Music Festival last year when Rudimental, Knife Party, Tinie Tempah, Carnage and Chuckie came to The Met to party. I ended up building a massive Green Room complete with its own bar, flat screen TV showing the main room as well as a retro video game coffee table so the VIPs can hang out there before their shows.
What's your favourite part of the job?
It's not your run of the mill normal job. Each day is different and it's such a fast paced environment. Everyone tells me I run at a million miles per minute so this pace suits me. At the end of the day it's my own business, alongside my business partners Trent and Matt, we can pave our own way to the future.

Worst part of the gig?
The hours. My wife recently had a baby so nightclub hours at work and newborn hours at home don't allow for much sleep.
What is Revelry Apparel all about?
Revelry Apparel was born from the heart and soul of Brisbane's entertainment precinct Fortitude Valley (FV). It is not a label or clothing line, but a statement of our lifestyle being that of music, entertainment, festivals, club life, late nights and early mornings. FV is intrinsically engrained into every item of clothing that leaves Revelry Warehouse; a symbol of grass roots entertainment, diverse culture and an unparalleled entertainment heritage that spans many memorable decades.

Who do you want to be sporting the line?
The beauty of our first line for '14 spring/summer is that it is really versatile. We've got a range of really cool ambassadors from local sporting personalities like Jharal Yow Yeh to hot up and coming DJs like Jordan Burns. We've also seen our Revelry Apparel snapback pop up on Will Sparks' US Tour. It's really exciting when you see a shot come up on a DJ's page with hundreds of thousands of followers and Revelry Apparel is right there is the foreground.
What kind of style can we see coming out of Revelry Apparel?
Revelry Apparel will be a statement of the clothing that represents this lifestyle, you'll see festival and gym wear pop up in the future. With access to thousands of people from our key demographic every weekend, we've got a great platform to work from.
