Japanese fashion giant Uniqlo has confirmed it will open its first Australian store at Melbourne Emporium later this year.
The 'fast fashion' retailer's 3000sqm, four-level store will anchor the Lonsdale St site, which is currently under development.
The Financial Review reports that the CFS Retail Property Trust Group, which has a $575 million share (!) of the Emporium project, confirmed the deal during its March quarter update yesterday. CFS fund manager Michael Gorman said "solid progress" has been made with the construction and leasing of Emporium.
"Uniqlo's commitment is further confirmation of the world class nature of this development," he said.
Uniqlo is renowned for its range of affordable products. Lululemon, Marc's, Saba and MJ Bale are also expected to take up residence at the Emporium.
