Perth Fashion Festival: One Fell Swoop Review

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

One Fell Swoop have had an excellent run in 2013.

Since taking out WA’s Designer of the Year award at the 2011 Perth Fashion Festival, everything the WA-based label touches has turned to gold, and this year's Perth Fashion Festival has been no exception.

In the Perini Privé showcase, Serbian-born Nikolina Ergic and Italian-Australian Daniel Romanin collaborated with their friend and artist Tané Andrews, who created an intricate and stunning art piece as the backdrop for the show.

A last minute change from VIP Peroni bar at Fashion Paramount to the PICA Institute was necessary after the venue blew away with the windy and wet weather. The setting was simply magical and really a piece of art, with soft alluring music, visually aesthetic food, lighting, and wonderfully dressed guests.

The models were layered in intricate ruffles, paneling, draping fabric and stood like manikins in front of the crowd. It was a special and unexpected treat for me to get to see Pippa McManus, WA fashion illustrator, in action and in an apparent trance sketching the show.
