Perth Fashion Festival Launches

Perth Fashion Festival
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Perth Fashion Festival has unveiled its 2013 calendar, launching a 15th anniversary program that will run over six days from September 11 to 16.

This year's event will showcase top local and national talent across 30 world class events, from designers, models and fashion bloggers to local wines and produce.

The 15th Anniversary VIP Opening will provide the perfect taster of WA fashion with designs from Empire Rose, Flannel, Morrison, One Fell Swoop, Ruth Tarvydas and Zhivago. To celebrate the show's Crystal anniversary, each designer will showcase their own interpretation of the iridescent gem.

Other highlights include An Evening With Camilla and Marc to raise awareness and funding for the McGrath Foundation; an array of free events in Forrest Place, including crowd favourite Carillon City Fashionably Loud with DJ duo The Faders; the op shop fashions of Restyle; and a teaming of local artists and retailers for Windows Of The City.

Reclaiming the 'ladies who lunch' moniker, Marie Claire editor Jackie Frank and IMG Fashion's Elle Persson will deliver insight into the commercial side of fashion over a two course lunch at The Business Behind The Glamour.

Two Designer Capsules will return, along with WA Designer Collections, The National Showcase and Student Runway, as well as many other events and activities available to the public.

This year's final event, Ellery Closing (presented by Newmont), will unveil a fine jewellery piece made from Newmont Gold by Perth-born designer Ellery, alongside her Vitreous Resort 2014 collection.

"I'm so excited to be celebrating PFF's fifteenth birthday as we reach a significant milestone in WA's fashion history," said Perth Fashion Festival director Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan. "More than ever I'm so proud to be showing what we have to offer as a fashion forward state to our local, national and international guests.

"To me fashion is about being accessible to everyone and using the language of fashion to empower others, and that's what we'll see at the 2013 Perth Fashion Festival."
