Perth Fashion Festival: Designer Capsule 2 Review

Betty Tran
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

After attending the One Fell Swoop show, I was all amped up for Designer Capsule #2.

The evening mixed the class of Betty Tran and Steph Audino with the casual of Bikini Atoll and Wild Horses, two styles that Western Australians enjoy.

Wild Horses showed two collections. Designer Natalie Donovan was reported as aiming to bring dresses into her collection, and she did not disappoint with a stunning maxi dress ending her parade.

When I first came across Steph Audino she was being touted as an emerging WA designer, now with a number of shows under her belt and an ever growing fan base, I can say that the sass and sensuality found in her previous collection Allure has now evolved and matured into a more womanly taste. Still maintaining the classic silks, with simple tucks in just the right places, the allure of flowing fabrics remains.

Betty Tran knows how to put on a show. The models had that added bounce and jive as they walked down the runway in her SS13/14 collection, ‘La Muse’, an adventurous and sensuous range. The first half of the show was a fiery red, which gave way to a sultry blue, all pulled together with pearls of course.

No WA fashion show would be complete without beachwear, and we were not disappointed. Bikini Atoll showed the second collection, ‘Revolution’, by designer Louise Bond.

With many white and blacks making a show, Louise Bond’s eight-year-old son made an appearance, showcasing a piece from the collection, and making most of us in the audience melt.
