Perth Fashion Festival was a fashionista's dream.
The shows brought history and fashion together, as the Western Australian museum played host to many of the shows. For me, the proceedings really got underway on Thursday September 12 with the Designer Capsule #1 labels (Alister Yiap, Butcher + Crow, Megan Salmon and Empire Rose ), but then I am a sucker for a great show!
The Alister Yiap show was the best I have seen from the Perth-based jewellery designer, who really takes decadent jewellery and its functionality to another level. The collection, aptly named ‘Band of Gold’, covered the models from head to toe.
The seductive Butcher + Crow followed, a personal favourite of mine. The flowing pastels pull and accentuate in all the right places and have had me excited ever since I saw them last year!
Megan Salmon brought sassy red to centre stage with her SS13/14 collection ‘Madam Butterfly’ with the bold prints, largely mixed with a cute hazy romanticism.
A furry canine stole the show during the Empire Rose piece. The massive Irish wolfhound led the model walking him astray as he decided to check out the crowd’s purses.
The styling for this show was stunning with models' hair nearly reaching the floor and fitting the theme of the SS13 collection, ‘The Moors’. Models were also strapped up styled with gladiator sandals that drew out the bold greens and blues colour, which were offset by glittery bodices, digital prints and various dark tones.
