Oxfam Launches Fair Fashion Clothing Line

Oxfam Fashion

For 20 years, Oxfam have been pioneers in the ethical and innovative area of the Australian fashion industry.

Now, the socially conscious company launches its own line of clothing, pushing for a metamorphosis of what it means to challenge big brands in an industry deeply disengaged with the ongoing problems of garment production.

As the Australian fashion industry grows, Oxfam knows how crucial it is to put your most fashionable foot forward. Their new range of handmade sleepwear, dresses, and everyday basics are a testament of the quality of fair trade products available at a reasonable price. Oxfam work towards maintaining sustainable trading relationships with 139 producers in 38 countries, including Australia. This guarantees their garments and gifts will be made with the quality, skill, and dedication customers deserve.

Oxfam Fair Fashion4Looking for a dress for a night out on the town? Look no further than the elegant trans-seasonal Afternoon Allure Dress, handmade in India from 100 per cent cotton, and perfect for those warmer days. How about something more artistic? The Decorative Arts Dress, figure-hugging and flattering, is a gem, perfect for cooler months.

Oxfam Australia Trading General Manager Julia Sumner says the clothing line "marks the start of an exciting new era" for Oxfam.

Oxfam Fair Fashion3“Our new range of ethical clothing is not only fun, fashionable and on trend, it is also made to the highest quality standards by a range of talented artisans in India and Nepal," she says, “and it's giving Australian shoppers what they want. [A] survey released by Oxfam [shows] that 89 per cent of Australians were willing to pay more for clothes to ensure garment workers had safe and decent working conditions.

Oxfam Fair Fashion1“This new range of ethical fashion is stylish and affordable and it gives Australians the opportunity to empower and support the people that are making their clothes. These clothes not only make a fashion statement-they make a statement that you are committed to fighting for gender equality and combating child labour to make an impact on global poverty."

Oxfam Fair Fashion2Gorgeous fashion often comes at a price, but not with Oxfam. Their core values of payment of a fair price, creating opportunities for disadvantaged producers, vehement dismissal of child exploitation, respect for the environment, and gender equality, is a clear testament to just how important assisting marginalised communities and developing sustainable products mean to them.

Oxfam's Fair Fashion line will help you make a statement in more ways than one.
