You may not have seen Mischa Barton on screen lately, but if her choice of pre-Melbourne Cup accomodation is any indication, she's not exactly struggling.
The actress turned fashion designer laid her hat down at the luxurious Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa. Barton took time out to relax at the secluded conservation-based resort before jetting south to enjoy the highlight of the Australian social calendar, the Emirates Melbourne Cup, in the prestigious Emirates marquee as the airline’s special guest.
Treated to world-class accommodation including the exquisite two-bedroom Wollemi Suite, amidst a richly landscaped garden with surrounding verandah and private swimming pool, Barton was clearly enamoured by the property.
“Wolgan Valley is absolutely stunning and a thoroughly relaxing experience,” she said. “From the private villas to its commitment to caring for its wildlife and environment, the resort is spectacular in so many ways. I was especially thrilled to see so many kangaroos roaming freely on the land.”
Exploring the 4,000 acre property and its stunning views, sampling fine local and regional produce and enjoying an indulgent spa treatment at the Timeless Spa were just some of the items on her itinerary.
Located a scenic three-hour drive or 45-minute helicopter ride from Sydney, Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa is nestled between two National Parks and bordering the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. The property is steeped in history, from ancient Aboriginal times to the presence of an 1832 Heritage Homestead restored to its original glory and a connection to Charles Darwin, who visited the Wolgan Valley in 1836.
As the first carbon-neutral hotel in the world, the pioneering resort actively protects its surrounding habitat and indigenous wildlife species while delivering the first-class standards and quality expected from luxury resorts.
Barton catapulted to fame by playing Marissa Cooper in the US TV hit The OC. She's since delivered eight successful seasons of her handbag line and just launched her flagship clothing boutique in London's fashionable east end. Most recently, she returned to the stage in an Irish production of Steel Magnolias with Australian actress Anne Charleston.
