The more intimately you know someone, the more clearly you see their flaws.
Finding beauty in imperfection, Libby Haines is a Melbourne based jewellery designer who spends part of her time in Bali where her accessories are produced. Her hands-on process starts with her partner/lover/best friend physically sourcing the stones in outback Queensland, in their organic form they are then combined in brass and silver to create truly unique and one-of-a-kind pieces.

“For me, Lemon was a way to create items that are little pieces of art that are the ultimate in self expression. The main concept for Lemon is an idea I have always been fascinated with finding the beautiful and interesting in things that people might ordinarily consider grotesque,” Libby says.

Libby's latest range, 'Filthy Hearts' is ultimately about flaws and the beauty found within imperfection. Taking organic shapes, unpolished copper and quartz stones, bolts, plates and chains, this collection was inspired by the quote “I love you in spite of your filthy heart” – which Libby has used throughout the range and has engraved on the inside and outside of certain pieces.

Truly loving someone is seeing the darkness in them and defying the impulse to jump ship – loving them regardless of their Filthy Heart.
'Filthy Hearts' by Lemon Jewellery will be released in February.
