Lead The Field A/W15 Fashion Launch

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Wednesday night I (Ashleigh McCallum, or The Blonde Silhouette) had the absolute pleasure of attending Indooroopilly Shopping Centre’s Lead The Field Autumn Winter Fashion Launch.

The fashion precinct looked simply spectacular, from the glowing purple lighting, to the decadently dressed tables lining the impressive runway. Wasting no time, I took to the runway for a quick photo op to showcase my #ootn (outfit of the night).

A mere 10 minutes later on the very same runway, I was introduced to the cast of fashion bloggers (minus one Sara Donaldson), Zanita Whittington, Kate Waterhouse and newly appointed, Nadia Fairfax… cue fan girl moment!

Indro-Autumn-Winter-3Unsurprisingly, the girls looked stunning, styled by designers available to Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, including Zimmerman, Scanlan Theodore and Manning Cartell. My favourite outfit from the evening belonged to Kate Waterhouse, who looked positively angelic in a Scanlan Theodore Feather Weave Skirt, structured Peplum Top and laced Gianvito Rossi sandals.

The formalities of the evening included a runway debuting the key trends for the Autumn/ Winter racing season, followed by a sit down dinner.

With my Instagram app at the ready and my photographer Erin Smith seated next to me, we watched the runway unfold, depicting a stylish and sophisticated racing season, determined by 5 key trends.

1. A play on texture, with lace, sheer, tulle and leather providing popular fabrics.
2. Sleek, classic, ladylike silhouettes and longer hemlines.
3. For gentlemen, the return of the dapper 3-piece suit in navy, grey and charcoal shades.
4. Metallic features.
5. Attention to detail seen in headwear, statement jewellery, coats and fur capelets.

After all the socialising, photographing, Instagramming and style appreciating, I’d worked up quite the appetite and was excited to see what would be served up to such a fabulous crowd. With an alternate drop menu, I enjoyed a succulent chicken dish, while those beside me enjoyed crispy barramundi and greens. Of course, an evening is not complete with a side of dessert and Koko Black’s rich layered chocolate cake was divine.

The evening finished with an intimate chat with Kate Waterhouse herself, where we debriefed on the success of the evening and the second series of fashion bloggers. She even liked my photo on Instagram… if I’m not mistaken, that would make us besties now, right?

Indro-Autumn-Winter-52I walked away beaming, contemplating a wish list in my head of the incredible fashion presented by the Brisbane's fashion precinct, Indooroopilly Shopping Centre. You know where to find me this racing season…
