Handmade Fiesta Celebrates Sustainability

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Hola! Vintage and homemade one-of-a-kind goods are SO in right now (I mean, when are they not?), and the new festive exhibition 'Handmade Fiesta' celebrates re-use, handmade and eco-conscious shopping.

Bringing together over 25 creative Brisbane artists who salvage, re-use and up-cycle materials to create unique and sustainable masterpieces, you're guaranteed to find something to soothe your cravings for individuality.

The exhibition will showcase a diverse range of items including garlands, mobiles, decorations, jewellery, artworks, wall décor, wearable items, soft furnishings, soft toys and home wares.

Featured works include funky metal dog tags of celebrities and hand drawn images by Heather Crossley, wall décor and mobiles made from old magazines by Pallidus Follum and leather garlands crafted by off-cuts from Bog Standard Design.

Event goers will also be treated to a special fusion of hip-hop, soul, funk, jazz and sonic explorations by local Queensland band Astro Travellers.

The opening event will also feature all the usual perks alongside the exhibition such as a cash bar, free finger food, free craft activities and late night warehouse shopping.

The event opens Saturday, November 30 from 6:30-9:30pm and runs through to Christmas Eve.
