Pointing out the obvious, artist Daniel Soares pasted Photoshop toolbar stickers on H&M fashion campaign posters to see what reactions would result.
You could surmise he did this as a social commentary on the state of our social media, or point out the unhealthy focus on external beauty, or the inauthenticity of advertising. But really, what he did was make us focus on the issue. And he did it in a non-threatening, non-violent way.
Props to you Mr Soares. Women the world over are thanking you for highlighting the impossible standards of modern beauty we are meant to strive for and hopefully pushing mainstream advertising back towards depicting real women.
