Future Fashion: Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art keeps bringing the goods. This time it's a stunningly beautiful exhibition of Japanese fashion, mostly from the early 1980s to the present.
Hold up though, don't get too excited yet. It won't arrive on our shores from Japan until late in the year. Curated by world-renowned fashion historian Akiko Fukai, the exhibition will feature more than 90 garments and accessories from the unparalleled collection of the Kyoto Costume Institute. Along with iconic garments by pioneering fashion figures such as Issey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo and Yohji Yamamoto, ‘Future Beauty’ will showcase designs by mid-career innovators such as Junya Watanabe and Jun Takahashi.
'Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion’ will be at GOMA from November 1.
