Fox Feet Summer 2014 Review

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.
Saturday March 8 saw the Summer 2014 round of the Fox Feet fashion series come to The Causeway in Vic Park.

The venue’s tagline “it all starts at the Causeway” was a fitting mantra for a number of developing Perth designers, some just establishing themselves on the Perth scene. Fox Feet, as a not-for-profit fashion organisation, aims to mentor up-and-coming designers and give them opportunities, expertise and support navigating the Western Australian fashion scene. The group is fast becoming the go-to crowd in Perth for emerging designers with that hipster edge.

The dimly lit room took us all on a hypothetical ’24-hour tour’ of the many fashion possibilities within Western Australia in the one day. The show kicked us off with an early morning trip to Cottesloe beach as Cenote Swimwear and Kaftans by Clara-Ann showed us that we would not want to arrive at the beach any other way!

Following this morning swim we headed to Subi markets for our morning shopping with baggy dresses and polka dots by Jessica Reeves.

A quick change of costume and it was off to lunch with the girls at Hillary’s with metallic statement pieces from Perth-based E.L.F and EKAY.

Blushed by Teagan Jacobs gave us tactile-inspired garments on an evening open to possibilities.

But cocktails were reserved for an old favourite of mine, Myles Merlos, with the aptly named ‘Pina Colada’ collection.

The personal highlight of the show for me was the handmade jewellery pieces by Little Dove, who handmakes each individual bead on these beautiful statement pieces. These really accentuated the designer’s work and helped us to hold on to those last fleeting days of summer.
