The Finders Keepers market is returning to Brisbane for the Spring/Summer event.
Founded back in 2008, the event has grown to be Australia's leading design market. Events are held bi-annually in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, and more recently an annual event has begun in Adelaide.
Every year, the Finders Keepers supports and promotes over 1,200 sellers, with a huge range of products and clothing. Brooke Johnston and Sarah Thornton came together as young designers and friends to put the event together in Sydney. In 2007, 20 stalls made up their creation (originally called Hope Street Markets) and it was an overwhelming success.
It expanded to Brisbane in 2009, and a year later made its debut in Melbourne.
The aim was simple: create a supportive and thriving environment for like-minded, independent designers to be able to sell their stuff. Surprisingly, something like this didn't quite exist when the girls shared this vision, so they got straight to work and haven't looked back since.
Every year, the separate events have grown impressively, and Brooke and Sarah – who began with zero business experience or funding – have been able to gain next-to-none knowledge and experience to build their company for the future.
So what exactly can you find at Finders Keepers? Well, there's a lot. A quick glance at the official website's directory page will have any market lover frothing at the mouth and wanting more. Fashion labels include Alice Nightingale, Ginny Reynders Jewellery, Felicity Cooney, Meta Design Co, Katherine Wheeler, Minima Handcrafted and many, many more.
These labels provide the coolest of cool shoes, clothing, accessories... The list goes on.
If you're just expecting a market full of clothes, think again. As you wander, you can grab some Bald Rock beef jerky, a cup of Craft Coffee, a copy of Lunch Lady magazine or even a gourmet ice cream sandwich from Boss Bites.
