After the breakout success of its inaugural year, the Australian Fashion Film Awards (AFFA) are returning in 2016 with all the fire and diversity of their debut, and a few new surprises up their sleeve.
The non-for-profit organisation knows that fashion film is no longer an underground genre, now garnering the attentions and skill set of the film world's best like visionary Hollywood director like Steve McQueen working with Burberry, and fashion icon Cass Bird for 'Vogue' to name a few.
Submissions for this year's show are open now and expected to be high in numbers, but don't delay, offerings are only taken until 31 July. Not only is there the potential for recognition, but for exposure as well; last year's People's Choice Award winner Gracie Otto was picked up by Westfield to make their new campaign 'Today, I Am'.

Best Fashion Film from an Emerging Label has been added to the award list, allowing a wider variety of talent the chance to compete, and viewers the chance to appreciate their creative majesty. This year's jury hasn't been announced yet, only the promise of head execs from the Grammy's, ACMI, and Paramount. If it's anything like last year, it will be a truly impressive array of industry veterans – and newcomers – that will have competitors fan-girling and working double-time to make sure their work is at its best. “Growing and developing this exciting genre and industry is what this event is all about,” AFFA founder Anastasia Fai says.
Submission deadline is 31 July, so get in quick. Finalists are to be announced 15 August, with the red carpet and awards ceremony taking place in Sydney 18 October.
