'Bloom' is the third exhibition of fabric design and wearable art from the artisans of Cascade Textiles and will showcase the creativity that buzzes about the community who represent Cascade Place.
Cascade Place is a creative initiative of CPL (the Cerebral Palsy League). Situated in Redcliffe, Cascade Textiles has been operating for 10 years and provides creative opportunities for people with disabilities to express themselves through the medium of fabric and dye.
The exhibition will feature new products and designs created with original, authentic screen printed fabric formed into vibrant coloured cushions, summer robes and happy coats. The opening night of the exhibit will be a celebration of designs inspired with spring themes, alongside the smooth musical tones from MeowRocket. The evening event will also feature a new film from Mixed Bag Productions.
To celebrate the upcoming exhibit, the team at Cascade Textiles have highlighted their Top 5 punniest textiles:
Iceberg
We hope Rob swims between the textile flags and wears his textile wetsuit because that water looks a little bitey! Oh wait, the second one isn’t a flag...Brisbane City Hall
It’s high time you bought some local Brisbane made textiles so Kristi can come down from the clock tower.Rhinos
Even more rare than the endangered black rhino, Justin and Reece have just spotted the almost extinct 'textile rhinoserous'. Due to their distinct colouration they have some trouble blending into their surroundings and are an easy target for predators.Summit
To summit up you must first get down with our textiles.Zombies
Don’t be scared, we just want to give you a textiles fashion makeover... and eat your brains.'Bloom' exhibits at Cascade Place 30 October - 15 November.
