Fancy yourself a decent designer? Burnside Village is holding a competition for fashion hopefuls looking to get their foot in the door of the industry.
Whether you're a fashion student, dress-obsessed, or just an artist with a keen eye – this is your chance to get your designs seen by the public and the fashion world. 'The Fashion Illustrative' runs until 25 February, so if you've got an interesting design hidden away in your sketchbook it's time to bring it out.
Your design could win some very generous Burnside Village gift cards, with the winner having their design on display, as well as being printed onto a limited edition gift card. Throughout March the public will get to choose their favourite design from the entries, with the winner receiving the $500 Burnside gift voucher.
It won't just be the public judging these designs either – a group of experts (including a TAFE fashion lecturer, TAFE SA 2015 Student of the Year Petar Prodnovic, and an advertising executive) will also evaluate the creations, giving their chosen winner the $1,000 Burnside voucher. That's plenty of money to spend on a wardrobe fit for the famous designer you might one day become.
The competition is all about finding new and exciting talent, so don't be shy – it's not about experience, it's about the skill. If you're itching to get one step closer to being the next Balmain (or you just want some retail rewards for your artistic ability) this is your chance. All you have to do is base your design on a brand or retailer located at Burnside Village and grab an entry form from the website.
Take your fashion inspiration from outlets like Calvin Klein, Laura Ashley, or Sass & Bide, and let your creative side out. The illustrations can be drawn by hand or digitally, as long as they're inspired by Burnside Village fashion.
