Britney Takes Product Placement To The Next Level

Britney Spears released her latest perfume ad music video today, and it might have broken new ground for product placement.

Believe it or not, it actually takes one minute and 39 seconds for Britney's own brand of perfume to appear in the clip for, uh, 'Perfume', but from that point on, the entire 'plot' of the song and the video — such as it is — revolves around it.

See, Britney is sneaking around with a guy (an almost lifeless male model) who has another girl that he doesn't want to leave, so she comes up with a crafty plan to 'brand' her guy with her perfume so the other girl will know he's been creeping. (In case you can't gather all this from watching the clip with the sound off, the lyrics helpfully spell out everything that's happening on-screen).

Hopefully Spears' latest magnum opus will help sales of her 'Fantasy' fragrance, which currently lags behind One Direction's 'Our Moment' and Lady Gaga's 'Fame' in terms of sales.
