The first ever Australian Fashion Film Awards (AFFA) will celebrate the partnership and achievements of both the fashion and film industries.
Held in May, AFFA will be showcasing the top independent and commercial films and fashion designers in Australia, highlighting their achievements from the past year.
Bazaar, Miranda Kerr
Founder and director of AFFA, Anastasia Fai, has worked hard to bring together industry-thought leaders, creatives and brands who are at the forefront of the fashion world and celebrate the fusion of two industries working closer together. "More and more leaders in the fashion industry are recognising the need for a short film to articulate a brand's personality to millions of people around the world who are consuming video content online," says Fai.
Bodymod
We have already seen brands such as Chanel and Dior using short films for their brands, instead of TV commercials, and this is quickly becoming a global trend. “The fascination and access to film production has meant that a photo shoot is no longer enough to launch a new fashion concept,” says Fai.
Country Road, Isabel Lucas
Bringing attention to Australia's talent in this rapidly growing genre, is a first step in putting Australia on the fashion film world map. “We have incredible talent in Australia in both the fashion and film industries,” agrees Fai.
The competing films will be showcased during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia before the finalists are announced at the AFFA launch event on 15 April.
