Recently signing to US independent Other People Records, Brisbane trio Avaberée have recently released their newest single, ‘Doubt’.
The release was crafted in Los Angeles with upcoming producer Tommy English (Ladyhawke, Borns) and sees Avaberee taking a braver, more dynamic and experimental approach to their sound. “The title is self explanatory,” says Avaberee member Irena Lysiuk.
“The song encompasses the doubts that plant and manifest themselves. Feelings of inadequacy that can make you your worst enemy. From the minimal introduction to the dirty drum beat, 'Doubt's call and response chorus plays on the idea of the back and forth 'voices' in your head.”
Ahead of their date with Bigsound this week, we asked the ladies of Avaberee to select their favourite shoes for life on the road.
1. The Birkenstock 'Arizona'
When travelling in and out of the van this is the perfect sandal for wanting to be ‘the bare-foot Contessa’ on the road, but a model citizen when entering a public place. Great for showing off your recent pedicure, nail polish choice of gunpowder green. In winter, this summery gal can be paired nicely with striped socks!2. The Heeled Boot
Not only is this a stylish choice for parading around a big city, a nice, heeled boot can transform from day to night. Pair with dark jeans and a coloured blouse and you’re ready for the stage my friend.3. The Trainer
When running to catch your 6am flight, hung over as hell, the trainer (preferably Nike or Payless) will get you to your gate faster than any other shoe. It’s casual, it’s fun, it’s fashunn darling.4. Ugg Boot
Designed for a cooler climate, the classic Aussie Ugg will keep those tootsies toastie-warm to keep away those nasty, winter chills. Frostbite was so 2010.5. The Stiletto
Not only will this bad girl give you shawties out there height you desire on stage, this multipurpose design doubles as an ice pick or even a weapon in sticky situations.Avaberee play the Footstomp Bigsound First Night Fever party at The Triffid 8 September. They also play Bigsound 10 September along with the Currumbin Creek Tavern 11 September.
