Crack a tinnie and pop open a jar of cocktail olives, because there hasn’t been a shindig like this since 'Don’s Party'.
Bertie Page Clinic are back with a brand new single inspired by those parties your parents went to in the '70s. You know the ones where cheese fondue flowed like lava and you put your keys in a bowl for some reason.
To celebrate, Bertie Page Clinic are hosting a kaftan party; here they select five celebrities who have best rocked the kaftan.
1. Demis Roussos
Our friend Demis Roussos sadly passed away in January this year. It was strange as we were right in the middle of writing our song 'Kaftan Party' when we got the news, making this single a sign from god. A Greek god like Zeus of course. His beautiful voice and glorious collection of unapologetic kaftans shall never be forgotten.{youtube}SbGKTxUA5H8{/youtube}
2. Elizabeth Taylor
From the 1960s and throughout the rest of her life Liz loved a good kaftan. In the early days of her stardom she was the embodiment of tight fitted, clean-cut elegance. After the '50s she really let loose trying a range of extravagantly exotic styles. The '70s saw her team countless kaftans with an over-roasted tan that would put most rotisserie chickens to shame.3. Omar Sharif
This sexy Egyptian has kept audiences swooning for decades with his smouldering sex appeal and dark lashes that draw you into his deep, irresistible eyes of brown.... *drools*. After making a mountain of movies in Egypt in the '50s he finally hit Hollywood in 1962 with 'Lawrence Of Arabia'.{youtube}ud1zpHW3ito{/youtube}
4. The Beatles
The Beatles led the British invasion and burned like a supernova throughout the '60s touching every aspect of popular culture along their way. They inspired all kinds of far-out fashions and in 1967 they hit the psychedelic heights with The Magical Mystery Tour. The 'I Am The Walrus' sequence features long jackets, flowing sleeves and one very special egg hat that shall never be forgotten.{youtube}7r52ZBx0KMI{/youtube}
5. Oprah
Five years ago Oprah took over Sydney Harbour for her huge, farewell show. She was snapped wearing a gloriously colourful kaftan by fashion sponsor Camilla.Bertie Page Clinic play the New Globe Theatre (Brisbane) 11 July and Frankie's Pizza (Sydney) 6 August.
