The Stevenson Experience's Top 5 Phobias

The Stevenson Experience
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and some beyond.

The award-winning, identical twin musical comedy duo The Stevenson Experience is back.

In 'O Brother, Where Art Thou (on stage, beside me)' at Adelaide Fringe, the pair bring boundless energy and everything you'd expect from them: big laughs, hilarious songs, razor-sharp banter, gentle (perhaps) ribbing, and good natured (extremely personal) rivalry.

These brothers have been seen on the Melbourne International Comedy Festival stage, as well as on our TVs on Channel 10 and Channel 7.

Since they last played Adelaide Fringe, Benjamin wrote multiple international bestsellers, and is adapting them for HBO. James did some cool stuff too – but he doesn't like to brag.

Speaking of things people don't like to do – what a segue – the brothers list their top five phobias, ahead of their Adelaide Fringe season.

Five

Chronophobia. This is a fear of the passing of time, but can also be related to a fear of countdowns. Enough said: if you have chronophobia, stop reading this right now – it's only going to get worse.

Four

Pentaphobia. A fear of the number five. What are you doing reading a Top 5 list if you're scared of the number 5? Good on you for doing a bit of exposure therapy, I guess.

Three

Phobophobia. A fear of fear. A phobia of phobias. The ouroboros of phobias.

Two

Dittophobia. Okay this one's not officially recognised medically as a phobia, but we thought we'd throw it in there in case you were triggered by phobophobia at number three.

One

Symmetrophobia. A fear of symmetry. Including identical twins. If you have symmetrophobia you are still welcome to come to our show, you'll just have to cover one eye.

The Stevenson Experience play Monocle at The Howling Owl (Adelaide Fringe) 21-23 February.
