The Almighty Comedy Hour Brings Three Times The Fun!

'Almighty Comedy Hour'
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The 'Almighty Comedy Hour' at Adelaide Fringe promises to be a vehicle to introduce some of the world's big comedy names to audiences.

It stars Jimmy McGhie (UK), John Hastings (CAN) and Edd Hedges (UK).

Here, John Hastings answers some questions about being a part of 'Almighty Comedy Hour'.

What are you excited about when it comes to being a part of the 'Almighty Comedy Hour' at Fringe?
I love performing with two epic awesome acts like Jimmy and Edd. As well the idea of basking in the sun of Aus and then ripping faces with jokes makes me feel like I am climbing the rope in gym class. I am not gonna lie, warmth in February makes me freaking smile so anything to experience that makes me do a jig.

It will feature not only you but also Jimmy McGhie and Edd Hedges. What makes the three of you a great combination for this?
We are three different acts with three different haircuts. Ed is a young, hungry storyteller, I am a human man with some fart stories and then James will probably be wearing coats more expensive than the tent we are in so come just to see what that looks like.

Why do you think joined comedy events like this work so well, as opposed to solo performances?

It provides variety and also lets the audience sample everything. People come to festivals to see a bunch of things and a combo show is a good palette cleanser.

Where did your comedy journey begin, how did you get into it?
It was 2006, I was walking through the winter in Montreal, Canada and an ole Irish Gangster with Coors Light on his breath and a wig slapped on his head told me it was either jokes or freeze to death. It was either that or it was my dream and I finally just did it.

Why have you stuck with it?
It's honestly the only thing I am good at!

What will you be bringing to the show?
My voice, skin and ripper jokes. I am just going to try and make the audience laugh as hard and as often as possible!

Have you ever been to Australia? If so, what's your favourite thing about it?
This is my third time. I like arguing over whether or not your coffee is any good.

What are you looking forward to about Adelaide Fringe itself?
Making you nuts laugh. Also the coffee argument.

'Almighty Comedy Hour' takes place at Cornucopia at Gluttony from 16 February-18 March.
