Sydney Comedy Festival brings its biggest programme ever to the city, with more than 750 artists gearing up to flood it with laughs in more than 315 shows.
Home-grown talent includes columnist and television presenter Annabel Crabb, 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Best Show winner and UK ‘Taskmaster’ favourite Sam Campbell, Tik Tok toilet connoisseur Sex, ‘Chopsticks Or Fork’ host Jennifer Wong, and internet sensation Chloe Maddren.
Plus there’s ‘The Project’ regular panellist Peter Helliar, a hilarious night with Judith Lucy and Kaz Cooke, comedy crackpot Reuben Solo, the sassy, sardonic Gen Cricket, Lizzy Hoo loved for her Prime Video comedy special ‘Hoo Cares!?’ and 2022 ‘Australia’s Got Talent’ finalist Emo Majok.
Heading overseas, some of the International acts to expect are viral Tik Tok star Adrian Bliss (UK), Indian comic Kanan Gill who rose to fame with his YouTube series ‘Pretentious Movie Reviews’, Singaporean comedian Kumar known for his drag persona, the witty and whimsical Angelo Tsarouchas (GRC/CAN), razor-sharp Egyptian comedian Ahmed Ahmed, and Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer 2022 winner Lara Ricote (MEX).
Plus there’s 2016 English Comedian of the Year Josh Pugh, the fierce and fiery Irish comic Shane Daniel Byrne, Sarah Keyworth (UK), Adam Kay (UK), Lebanon king of comedy Nemr, ‘Would I Lie To You’ favourite David O’Doherty (IRE), Scottish accent-master Larry Dean, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winner Viggo Venn, and pop music duo and real-life couple Two Hearts (NZ).
“This year marks a monumental chapter for Sydney Comedy Festival, as we proudly roll out our largest and most vibrant programme to date with Sydney stages set to host over 750 comedians. We can’t wait to fill the city with a kaleidoscope of comedic talent with everything from ground-breaking newcomers shaking up the comedy scene to the household names we all know and love,” Sydney Comedy Festival Director Jorge Menidis says.
“The countdown is on Sydney. This year we’ve catered for every comedic taste and are ready to serve up a delightful feast of laughter.”
The 2024 event also sees the return of the Sydney Comedy Festival Gala across a number of venues, plus the return of the beloved End of Fest Gala.
